The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies, #1)

Goodreads Synopsis: Olivia Kaspen has just discovered that her ex-boyfriend, Caleb Drake, has lost his memory. With an already lousy reputation for taking advantage of situations, Olivia must decide how far she is willing to go to get Caleb back.

Wrestling to keep her true identity and their sordid past under wraps, Olivia’s greatest obstacle is Caleb’s wicked, new girlfriend; Leah Smith. It is a race to the finish as these two vipers engage in a vicious tug of war to possess a man who no longer remembers them.

But, soon enough Olivia must face the consequences of her lies, and in the process discover that sometimes love falls short of redemption.

AJ says: Let me start with how complicated this love story is, this book messed my brain in so many ways and made me cry a bucket or two. Man, almost all of the characters are manipulative and a bit of fucked up.  But that wouldn’t even affect you not to love this book.

I’m actually in between loving and hating the character of Olivia Kaspen, I lovSO MANYe that she is a brave and independent individual. I also happen to like how manipulative she can get but not so much when it comes to decision making, especially when Caleb is involved she can be cowardly unreasonable and stubborn.(ohh, how love can weaken us)

I love this book because it somehow shows figments of our own reality, on how love can be so complicated and dark at times.  On how love isn’t always about rainbows and butterflies and there isn’t a happily ever after for some. And that sometimes it’s about manipulation and twisted lies and more complications.

AJ’s rating: I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend this to Contemporary Romance readers! If you want to go on a crying spree this book is definitely the one for you.

  1. I’ve read this last year and that’s exactly how I felt. Had a book hang-over for about a week. Scarred me.
