ARC Review: Lumière by Jacqueline Garlick

Lumière (The Illumination Paradox, #1)Title: Lumière

Author: Jacqueline Garlcik

Series: The Illumination Paradox #1

Publisher: Skyscape

Goodreads symopsis: One determined girl. One resourceful boy. One miracle machine that could destroy everything.

After an unexplained flash shatters her world, seventeen-year-old Eyelet Elsworth sets out to find the Illuminator, her father’s prized invention. With it, she hopes to cure herself of her debilitating seizures before Professor Smrt—her father’s arch nemesis—discovers her secret and locks her away in an asylum.

Pursued by Smrt, Eyelet locates the Illuminator only to see it whisked away. She follows the thief into the world of the unknown, compelled not only by her quest but by the allure of the stranger—Urlick Babbit—who harbors secrets of his own.

Together, they endure deadly Vapours and criminal-infested woods in pursuit of the same prize, only to discover the miracle machine they hoped would solve their problems may in fact be their biggest problem of all.

I seriously love the cover so much I instantly requested for an advanced reader’s copy without reading the description first, which was also approved immediately. (But after I was approved I went back to the galley and read its description which didn’t disappoint me) And Lucky for me the story, too, is captivating.

The story started with when Eyelet’s eight years old, which was a good thing because it’s giving you a glimpse of her childhood, that as she grows older the story is also building and progressing. (Which I really like!)

And as for the cast, they have their own quirks and characteristics you’ll surely fall in love with.  I also find the romance here refreshing fwpid-wp-1439085734262.jpegor our heroine’s love interest isn’t the usual drop dead gorgeous Prince Charming in the character of Urlick Babbit. I also find their dynamic conversation amusing most especially at first when Eyelet curiosity is at its best.

I really had a great time reading it. Lumière is an amazing read with fantasy, action-adventure, romance rolled into one, all that you’re looking for a book is already here. (What could you ask more? )

AJ’s rating: I give this a out of  stars. You wouldn’t ever regret reading it!!!! This book is really something I look forward seeing on bookstore shelves.
